 Today we:

  • finally came to a consensus on a theme for our Grade 6 Farewell, we learned that consensus has many pros but it is also very difficult
  • had gym class
  • made thank you cards for the support workers in our school
  • worked on finishing our short stories, they have to be complete this week
  • learned how to simplify fractions

Today we:

  • worked on revising and stretching out the details in our own short stories, Mrs. Bradley is trying to keep up with writing conferences and students can work on reading while waiting for feedback
  • worked on rainbow themed paper table cloths for the Volunteer tea
  • collaborated on a giant three circle Venn Diagram to compare and contrast democracy in Ancient Athens, the Iroquois Confederacty and Canada
  • read aloud two chapters from our class novel
  • played a Kahoot with review questions from our fractions unit and from our Iroquois unit
  • had a Grade 6 meeting about expectations for behaviour at recess and during interactions with supervisors

  • did group edits on two short stories to model revision strategies
  • worked on revising and stretching out the details in our own short stories, Mrs. Bradley is trying to keep up with writing conferences and students can work on reading while waiting for feedback
  • had a choice between volleyball, floor hockey, and free choice in gym class
  • continued our extended role play, using a Iroquois consensus making model to determine the theme of our Grade 6 farewell.
  • learned about how to convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions using division and multiplication

  • worked on revising and stretching out the details in our own short stories
  • practiced bumping and serving in volleyball during physical education
  • had a lesson to learn about how the Grand Council of the Iroquois was structured and how it operated
  • started an extended role play, using a Iroquois consensus making model to determine the theme of our Grade 6 farewell.
  • read aloud a chapter from our class novel
  • learned about how fractions are actually division statements for equal sharing and found quotients to go with them

  • started learning more about Haudenosaunee government
  • worked on a visual journal page about the Hiawatha Wampum and the Great Law of Peace
  • did non-fiction reading comprehension about the solar eclipse
  • started learning about fractions
  • worked on our short story writing
  • learned another affix to support our vocabulary development
  • had routine immunizations for those with signed permission forms
