• reviewed whole number and decimal number addition
• worked on finding the theme from a short film
• began working on our visual journal pages to explain how tree cookies can tell us about the age and growing condition of trees
• had time to play Prodigy Math or English while Mrs. Bradley did reading testing

• had combined gym with the other Grade 6 class and played dodgeball
• wrote our unit test for the Integer unit
• had French class
• listened to a picture book read aloud and worked on our summarizing and using the setting to understand to story
• learned about subjects and predicates as a part of a sentence and how to identify and fix sentence fragments
• learned about the differences between deciduous and coniferous trees and recorded that information on our Venn Diagrams

• got to choose a sticker each because our teacher has been hearing such amazing things about our lunchroom behaviour
• learned how to write 5 sentence summaries for a story and learned how to complete a graphic organizer to show how the setting impacts the plot and theme of a story
• reviewed prepositions as a part of speech
• some students attended Patrol Training

• learned that we subtract integers by adding the additive inverse, we did some questions together and then did work independently
• reviewed the nutrient cycle and food chains and learned about producers, consumers and decomposers, we began a visual journal page to show our understanding
• had some time for silent reading
• learned about onomatopoeia and worked on an art project using onomatopoeia words

• worked on adding integers, moving up and down number lines
• learned about how photosynthesis works and how trees use transpiration as part of the water cycle

• worked on comparing and ordering integers in Math
• continued learning how to analyze characters in preparation for our year-long reading challenge.  We completed character attributes organizers on Shrek and wrote paragraphs explaining his character traits and providing evidence for our opinions with examples from the short film we watched.
• had French class
• Read 28 pages in our class novel and took reading notes
• reviewed adjectives and adverbs and worked on assignments to identify adjectives and adverbs in sentences
• had some catch up time to complete work from this week

• played Paradise, a throwing and catching game, in gym class
• listened to two more chapters of our read-aloud, No Time To Say Goodbye, and took notes on what we heard
• learned about alliteration and practiced writing alliteration phrases and sentences
• learned about magnitude and additive inverses with integers, we did some questions altogether and some questions for independent practice on worksheets
• reviewed nouns and verbs and the difference between common nouns and proper nouns
• started learning about how to do character analysis, today we practiced with a Pixar Short, Mike's New Car
• learned about the differences and similarities between plants and trees

  Today we:

• played bench ball in gym class
• had a chance to go to the library to sign out books, we went over the procedures for using the library with Mrs. Watson
• learned about integers in Math class, we learned that zero is the middle of the number line and that numbers get larger towards the right, and smaller towards the left, we worked on visual journal pages to share the integer rules and to show how integers are used in real life
• had French class
• started our class read-aloud novel, No Time To Say Goodbye, and learned how to set up our reading notes
• learned about first and third person point of view in stories and practiced finding examples of each in our classroom books
• started our Trees and Forests unit in Science, we worked in groups to come up with different ways that the forest can be used for recreation, for raw materials, and to support life and the environment

• learned about the four pieces to being an Awesome Acadian (kindness, mindfulness, bravery, and responsibility)
• we worked in groups of four to determine ways we can practice the four characteristics of an Awesome Acadian at school
• learned about how to organize our writing assignments to ensure that our work is easy to read and understand
• wrote for 30 minutes on a topic of our own choice to give Mrs. Bradley a good idea of who we are as writers
• had gym with the other Grade 6 class, we played dodgeball
• worked on waking up our math brains with a Personal Number visual journal page
