Monday and Tuesday, January 29 & 30

Today and yesterday we:

• practiced and performed our Greek mythology readers theatre plays
• worked on lattice method for decimal multiplication
• did research on a Greek god/goddess for our music video project
• had time for our Reading Race projects
• worked on non-fiction reading comprehension with a news article about the current world population
• had gym class
• did a virtual escape room to identify and fix sentence fragments
• had French class
• read aloud two chapters from our class novel

  Today we:

• did a quick check-up to see how we are doing with box method multiplication
• started reviewing lattice multiplication with decimal numbers
• had time for Reading Race projects
• read two chapters aloud from our class novel 
• reviewed exclamatory, interrogative, imperative, and declarative sentences and practiced writing each
• started a reader's theatre assignment on Greek myths

• learned about Greek Mythology and how it connected to the daily lives and government of Ancient Athens
• went to David Thompson School to participate in French Discovery Day

• corrected sentence fragments inside of paragraphs
• had time for Reading Race projects
• read a chapter aloud from our class novel
• worked on multi-digit multiplication with decimals using the box/area method
• started learning about Greek Mythology and how it connected to the daily lives and government of Ancient Athens

• had more time to finish our visual journal pages on Ancient Greek geography and city-states
• had time for the Reading Race reading projects
• learned about a Latin root word in vocabulary
• worked on identifying and correcting sentence fragments
• had French class
• went and did a paper airplane building activity with the Grade 8 Leadership class at David Thompson Junior High
• started our new class novel, "Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation"
• worked on crafting complete sentences by unscrambling mixed up sentences
• did a probability quiz
• read the first chapter of a book for First Chapter Friday
• had gym class
• had an awesome Acadia Assembly

  Today we:

• finished our class novel, Keeper of the Lost Cities
• each did an book report comprehension activity on the Keeper of the Lost Cities 
• played floor hockey in gym
• did a pre-assessment for our next math unit on multiplication
• had time to finish missing reading and social studies assignments
• learned about climate and physical geography of Ancient Greece and how it led to the development of city states
• started a visual journal assignment to share our understanding of Ancient Greek geography and city states

• We are going to David Thompson to spend an hour with their leadership class tomorrow
