  • started our Air and Flight unit with an examination of the Miracle on the Hudson, we predicted which words will be important during this Science unit

  • started learning about poetry, we wrote a lyrical poem as a class
  • had time for our reading race work, we have 9 more books to go until we get a chip buffet
  • read three chapters from our class novel
  • worked on adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators

  • worked on the Reading Race, we have read 71 books this year but we are trying to get to 100
  • had French class
  • started a new class novel, Front Desk by Kelly Yang
  • learned how to add fractions and mixed numbers with common denominators

  • worked on revising and stretching out the details in our own short stories, Mrs. Bradley is trying to keep up with writing conferences and students can work on reading while waiting for feedback
  • worked on rainbow themed paper table cloths for the Volunteer tea
  • collaborated on a giant three circle Venn Diagram to compare and contrast democracy in Ancient Athens, the Iroquois Confederacty and Canada
  • read aloud two chapters from our class novel
  • played a Kahoot with review questions from our fractions unit and from our Iroquois unit
  • had a Grade 6 meeting about expectations for behaviour at recess and during interactions with supervisors

  • continued our extended role play, using a Iroquois consensus making model to determine the theme of our Grade 6 farewell.
  • learned about how to convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions using division and multiplication

  • learned about how fractions are actually division statements for equal sharing and found quotients to go with them

  • reviewed our Sky Science lesson about how solar eclipses occur and watched a live stream of the eclipse from the path of totality
  • wrote our non-fiction text structures quiz
  • had an hour to work on reading race books
  • found and typed our recipes for our collaborative cookbook with our David Thompson leadership buddies
  • started new short stories, we were able to do the planning collaboratively, working in pairs or small groups to discuss a picture prompt, we filled out graphic organizers and some of us started writing our first drafts
